As tradition has affected the celebration of Halloween, so too has tradition affected design practices. Compared to competitors like Core and Coleman, Ozark Trail’s weather protection isn’t as solid. You may think that the more expensive a tent is, the better it will be. While this may be true in some cases, the price of a tent isn’t always a reflection of its performance. As you can see from the larger tents above, they come in all kinds of different arrangements.

The included carrying bag does not have wheels to aid in transportation, but at only 29 lbs. We don’t find that to be a noteworthy drawback as the nylon handles and shoulder strap work just fine in carrying the tent. The legs are locked into place with old school ozark tent metal push button locks, something you won’t see on many modern pop up tents now-a-days. These push locks get very difficult to use over time, especially if the tent is ozark trail canopy used on the beach and exposed to sand and saltwater, causing rust build up.

For side sleepers who don’t like a traditional mummy-style bag, this bag’s helpful jacket-style hood is insulated and keeps a pillow in place. It’s relatively lightweight and compatible with most types and sizes of sleeping pads, and it packs down to a compact size. The Hazel Creek 20-Person Star Tent With Screen Room was designed to sleep, yes, 20 people.

One of my favorite features to see on a hiker tent is a vestibule for gear storage. You also might need a sleeping mat because the bottom of the tent is elevated and gets extremely cold at night. The top of the tent contains a clear window, so you won’t feel claustrophobic, and you can stargaze at night while falling asleep. This tent/cot features three doors—one on each side and one by your head. The tent is made of one large main space, 2 side rooms, and a screened-in porch.

The poles are steel and telescopic, and the tent comes packed in a nicely designed bag with wheels. Note that you have several attachment elements and hooks on the ceiling. This is a 1 – 1.5 seasons tent, essentially a summer camping type ozark tent tent to be used in mild conditions and without much rain. So don’t be fooled by statements which you can see at some places that this is a tent for all seasons, it is not. For family camping, this is a tent for parents and up to 5 kids.

Certainly it’s not the best weather protection money can buy, but for summer campers and those will be avoiding bad storms, they will hold up just fine. Similar to easy setup, some tent brands are just flat-out better at weather protection than others. What I particularly like about this family tent is that although it’s a large tent, it’s more of a dome-style construction. Most of the larger tents are cabin-style, meaning they have walls that are angled straight up. But at only 17.6 lbs this is one of the lighter tents that can fit an entire family.

So this is a typical instant tent with the frame pre-attached to the tent, and you just unfold the package and extend it telescopic legs. In the following paragraphs I share just a few design features that, in my opinion, make this a well-designed product. They might not be great for winter camping, and they’re not rated for hurricane-force rains, but they will give you a great camping experience in fairer weather. Tent brands usually make the same decisions across all their tents.

On the other hand, my Coleman 10-Person Instant Tent has these humongous windows on every wall of the tent, which is great for hot day ventilation. However, my Ozark Trail Tent’s fabric started getting pretty soaked after just that 15 minutes of mostly light to moderate rain. I also noticed that the fabric of most of my Coleman Tents tend to stay dry in light to moderate rain, and would only start getting wet after 45 minutes to 1 hour of super heavy rainfall. As for my Ozark Trail 10-Person Tent, it was able to stay dry only for about 10 minutes of mostly light rain and some moderate rainfall, not even heavy rain.

Essentially, the tent is supported by two internal framing poles. Without a central pole, the room’s usability is much increased and probably has something to do with the claim that this tent can sleep 7. It might ozark trail canopy be listed as a 4 person tent & be very spacious, meaning you’ll fit as 4 + your gear. This means sleeping in a camping bag, with almost no space between people, and it might mean sleeping with heads next to feet.

For each of these 6 factors, we’ll compare the different tents to find out which one is the best. The tent with the highest combined score will win the title of “Best Tent” in its category.
